The deceased was identified as Gopal Mohon Tripura, 32, of the village.
Police said, Gopal and his elder brother Udes Kumar Tripura's wife Mati Bala Tripura locked in a brawl over the issue of cultivating crops on a hill at about 10.00pm.
At one stage, Mati Bala hacked Gopal with a sharp weapon, leaving him dead on the spot.
