26 dead, 60 wounded at metro rail station fire in India's Delhi

At least 26 people were dead and more than 60 received burn injuries in a fire near a metro rail station in Delhi on Friday (May 13, 2022), Delhi Fire Services chief Atul Garg said.
He said the death toll could go up as the fire continued to rage till night and many people were feared trapped, reports our New Delhi correspondent.
"It's a massive fire. So far, we have recovered 26 bodies from first and second floors and teams are now trying to reach the third floor. All the bodies are charred," Garg told The Indian Express.
The blaze erupted in a building near west Delhi's Mundka metro station.
According to available information, 60 people suffered burn injuries and they were being treated at the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital.
ANI quoted Deputy Commissioner of Police, Delhi Outer district, Sameer Sharma as saying that the fire started on the first floor of the building which is an office of CCTV cameras and router manufacturing company and spread to two other floors.
As many as 24 fire engines are at the spot to douse the flames. Officials of Delhi Fire Services (DFS) said the fire was reported at 4:40pm local time.
