2 dead, 3 injured as gas cylinder-laden pick-up van overturns in Padma Bridge
At least two persons killed and three others injured after a gas cylinder-laden pick-up van overturned on Padma Bridge last night (July 17, 2022).
The deceased were identified as Raju Khandaker (45) and Md Kawsar (23), reports our Munshiganj correspondent quoting Md Nazrul Islam, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Padma Bridge Uttar Police Station.
The identities of the injured could not be known immediately.
The accident took place at around 9:45pm last night near pillar No-17 on the Padma Bridge.
The ASI said the driver of a Dhaka-bound pick-up van from Shariatpur carrying gas cylinders lost control of the steering and overturned on the bridge, leaving two dead on the spot and three others injured.
Police rescued the injured and sent them to Sreenagar Upazila Health Complex for treatment. Police also seized the pick-up van, said the ASI.
Md Assaduzzaman, emergency medical officer of the health complex, said they referred the three injured to Midford Hospital in Dhaka after providing primary treatment.
Although vehicular movement on one lane of Padma Bridge was suspended following the accident, it was resumed after 15 minutes.
