7-month-old baby among 3 killed as bus hits auto-rickshaw

Three people including a seven-month-old baby were killed and three others were injured as a bus rammed into a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Sirajganj's Salanga area this morning.

"The accident took place near Nalka Bridge on Sirajganj-Hatikumrul road around 8:30am," Hatikumrul Highway Police Station Officer-in-charge (OC) Badrul Kabir told our local correspondent.

The deceased were identified as Chanbanu, 50, of Ullapara upazila, Dolly Akter, 25, of Fazle Khan Road in Sirajganj town, and her seven-month-old son Nihan.

OC Badrul said the auto-rickshaw was heading to Sirajganj town from Hatikumrul and the bus was coming to Hatikumrul from Sirajganj.

The three passengers of the auto-rickshaw died on the spot, he also said.

The injured were taken to a local hospital, the OC said, adding, "We have seized the bus but the driver and his helper fled."
