The fire at the Bangabazar Shopping Complex this morning started at the Adarsha market inside the complex, according to the Fire Service and Civil Defence.

A total of eight firefighters were injured in the incident, but there were no fatalities, said a press release signed by S Sultana, acting officer at the central control room of Fire Service and Civil Defence.

The first unit of the fire service team reached the spot at 6:11am from the Siddique Bazar station after they received a call from a cellphone just a minute before. The fire also spread to other buildings nearby, including the Anexco Tower, Gulistan Market, Bangabazar Market, Barishal Plaza and a four-storey building of Police Headquarters, according to the press release.
