Five killed in three-way collision in Kishoreganj

Five people, including three women, were killed in a three-way collision involving a lorry, a pickup van, and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Kishoreganj's Bhairab upazila this morning.
Among the deceased, two have been identified as Shahin Mia, the driver of the auto-rickshaw, and Rajon Mia, a passenger. Both were residents of Pirijkandi in Narsingdi, said Md Saju Mia, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bhairab Highway Police Station
The identities of the three women victims have not yet been confirmed.
Quoting locals, the OC said the covered van and pickup van were heading toward Bhairab from Narsingdi's Nilkuthi, while the auto-rickshaw was also heading in the same direction. As the vans crossed Jagannathpur Bridge around 9:45am, one attempted to overtake the auto-rickshaw but encountered an oncoming vehicle. In the process, the auto-rickshaw became trapped between the two vans.
It collided with one of the vans and was hit by the other, resulting in the deaths of the five people.
Two vehicles involved in the collision have been seized. Both drivers fled the scene.
