A man was killed after being hit by a bus last night in Beneali of Jhikargachha upazila of Jashore on the Jashore-Benapole road.

The deceased was Nurul Haque, 28, son of Atiar Rahman of Nowali village in Nirbaskhola union under Jhikargachha upazila. He was a representative of a pharmaceutical company, said Bablur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Jhikargachha Police Station.

According to police and locals, Nurul was heading towards Jhikargachha on a motorcycle around 9:00pm. When he reached the Beneali area, he collided head-on with a bus coming from the opposite direction.

He suffered a critical head injury. The bus fled the scene after the accident, added the OC.

Locals rescued him in critical condition and took him to Jashore General Hospital.

Abdus Samad, who was on duty at the hospital's emergency department, declared him dead upon arrival.
