CU 'BCL member' held during exam, handed over to police

Sajjad Hossain, a student of the Department of Political Science at Chittagong University (CU), was detained today in connection with the murder of Hridoy Tarua, while he was attending he was attending an exam at the Faculty of Social Sciences.

Hridoy was killed during a clash between protesters, law enforcers and Chhatra League on July 18.

The proctorial team then handed over Sajjad to Hathazari Police Station.

Students alleged that Sajjad was involved with Chhatra League, a recently-banned student organisation.

CU Proctor Tanvir Mohammad Hayder Arif said students informed them that an individual involved in Hridoy Tarua's murder and Chhatra League was attempting to take the exam.

The proctorial team intervened, handed him over to police, he added.

Abu Kawser Mohammad Hossain, officer-in-charge of Hathazari Model Police Station, Sajjad was in their custody. He has not been shown arrested yet. They will take necessary steps in this regard soon, he said.
