Former UP chairman shot dead in Sirajganj

The former chairman of Deshigram union parishad was shot dead by unidentified criminals in Sirajganj's Tarash upazila tonight.

The victim, Abdul Kuddus Sarkar, 60, was also the former president of Awami League's Deshigram union unit, our Pabna correspondent reports quoting police.

Amrito Shutrodhar, additional superintendent (Ullapara circle) of Sirajganj police, said around eight to 10 unidentified people attacked Kuddus around 7:30pm when he was at a shop at Bhogman Charmatha intersection.

He died on the spot after he was shot, the ASP said.

The police official said the reason behind the killing could not be known yet. Police are trying to locate and identify the culprits.
