National University: One teacher, 19 officials sent on forced retirement

National University authorities have sent one teacher and 19 officials of the university into forced retirement.
NU Public Relations Office Director (acting) Md Mostafizur Rahman confirmed the matter.
The decision was taken at the 269th Syndicate meeting of the university held at the university's city office in Dhanmondi with NU Vice-Chancellor Professor ASM Amanullah in the chair yesterday.
The proposal to amend the service statute of the National University by including provisions for voluntary retirement after completion of 25 years of service and retirement of an employee in the interest of the university was approved in the 263rd meeting of the syndicate held on November 3, 2024 and ratified in the special senate session of the university held on 15 December 2024.
As per the said rules, the syndicate granted retirement to the mentioned number of teachers and officers.
Public Administration Senior Secretary Md Mokhles Ur Rahman, Secondary and Higher Education Division Senior Secretary Siddique Jobayer and NU Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Md. Lutfar Rahman, among others, were present at the meeting.
