BNP to join polls as things might change: Commissioner Anisur

Election Commissioner Anisur Rahman today said the BNP will participate in the next general elections as many things might happen in politics ahead of the polls.

"There are about 14 months until the next election. The BNP will join the polls. Many things could happen before the election, I'll say," he told reporters at his office.

"A lot will change in these 14 months. There will be a change in the world, there will be a change in the country and even in politics," he said.

The incumbent EC wants all political parties to join the elections, said Anisur. "We don't want to be the referee of the game in which only one team is participating," he said.

For EC, the biggest challenge is to create a level playing field for everyone, the election commissioner said. "Bringing all the parties in the election is also a challenge. We will try till the last day to bring them into elections", he added.
