Budget session for fiscal year 2022-23 begins at parliament
The budget session of the fiscal year 2022-23 began today (June 5, 2022) at the parliament.
The current parliament is likewise in its18th session.
The House convened at 5:11 p.m., with Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.
At the beginning of the House proceedings, the speaker nominated a five-member panel of chairmen at the outset of this session.
The five members are Awami League MPs—Shamsul Haque Tuku, AB Tajul Islam and Muhibur Rahman Manik, Jatiya Party MP Mujibul Haque Chunnu and AL MP from reserved seat for women in parliament Shamima Akhtar Khanom.
The panel chairmen will preside over sittings of the House in the absence of the speaker and deputy speaker.
Later, the speaker moved a condolence motion expressing profound grief over the casualties in the deadly inferno at BM Container Depot in Chattogram, passing of United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and former finance minister AMA Abdul Muhith, among others.
Furthermore, the House also expressed deep shock and prayed for eternal peace of those who had lost their lives due to accidents at different places in home and abroad.
The House then unanimously accepted the obituary motion, which prayed for the eternal peace of those who had died, observed one minute of silence, and offered munajat as a token of respect to the departed souls.
