Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained 7 individuals early today after they were pushed back into Bangladesh by India's Border Security Force (BSF) through the Amarkhana area in Panchagarh Sadar upazila.

Lt Col Sheikh Mohammad Bodruddoza, commanding officer of BGB-56 Battalion in Nilphamari, told The Daily Star that members of the Amarkhana Border Outpost (BOP) detained the individuals near pillar no.743/1-S after they had crossed the border.

Earlier, Indian police detained them from different locations in Mumbai and its adjoining areas and later handed them over to the BSF who pushed them into Bangladeshi territory, he added.

The CO confirmed that all of the detained individuals were Bangladeshi, and hailed from Jessore and Narail.
