July Oikyo march stopped; delegation allowed entry at Secretariat

A group under the banner of "July Oikyo" held a protest march towards the Secretariat this afternoon, demanding an end to foreign influence in Bangladesh's internal affairs.

The march began from the National Museum at Shahbagh around 11:00am and was stopped by police near the capital's Shikkha Bhaban around 12:10pm, said Khaled Mansur, officer-in-charge of Shahbagh Police Station.

Later, five representatives from the group were permitted to proceed to the Ministry of Public Administration at the Secretariat to submit a letter outlining their demands.

As of 1:30pm, the area was clear and there were no protesters on the road, the OC added.
