BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said his party believes the return of the party Chairperson and former prime minister Khaleda Zia following the months of medical treatment abroad will help pave the way for democratic progress in the country.

"After four months of medical treatment, she is returning home today. This is a joyous occasion for us and the entire nation. At this crucial time for democracy, her presence marks a significant day for the country. We believe that Khaleda Zia's return will facilitate the path to democratic transition," Fakhrul said.

He made the remarks this morning while speaking to reporters at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, where he will receive party chairperson Khaleda Zia upon her return from medical treatment in the UK.

"Her return will contribute to steering the country towards a fair and equitable environment. We pray for her safe arrival," he added.

Fakhrul also urged the people to keep Khaleda Zia in their prayers and expressed hope that the nation would move forward towards democracy.

The special air ambulance carrying BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia left London last night and is scheduled to reach Dhaka this morning.
