Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the country's first metro rail on December 28.

ABM Amin Ullah Nuri, road transport and highways division secretary, confirmed the development to The Daily Star.

Hasina will formally inaugurate the section of Mass Rapid Transit (MRT Line)-6, that will run from the capital's Diabari to Agargaon, at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center on December 28, Amin Ullah said. 

The Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), a government-owned company, is implementing the metro rail projects.

Construction work of MRT Line-6 began in 2016.
