5 gold smugglers held in Dhaka: Rab

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) has claimed arrest of five gold smugglers from Dhaka, seizing about a 100 gold bars from their possession.

They identified the arrestees Md Rezaul, 35, Md Olier, 50, Md Olier Rohoman, 30, Md Ohidul Islam, 34 and Md Billal, 35, all held from Gabtoli last night.

The arrestees were produced before the media today. A total of 96 gold bars weighing over 11kg was found concealed inside their shoes.

They said to have confessed to smuggling gold into neighbouring countries for some time during primary interrogation.
