6 drug peddlers arrested with 2.07 lakh yaba tablets in Dhaka
Rapid Action Battalion claimed to have arrested a top drug peddler of Cox’s Bazar and his five associates, including three students, along with 2.07 lakh yaba tablets from Elephant Road in Dhaka last night.
Among the arrestees, Rab identified Jahir Abdullah as a top illegal drug trader from Teknaf of Cox’s Bazar who is also the chief of a 25-member gang involved in drug peddling for the last 15 years, said Mufti Mahmudh Khan, director, legal and media wing of Rab.
The other arrestees were identified as Foysal Ahmed, 31, a senior officer of a private bank, Md Miraz Uddin Nishan, 21, a student of computer science department at a private university, Towfiqul Islam, 21, a student of management of a college in Dhaka, Sanjay Chandra Halder, 20, a high school graduate from Madaripur and Moninul Islam, 30, a close associate of Jahir, said the official.
Apart from the yaba tablets, the elite force members recovered Tk 16.64 lakh from their possession, according to a text message sent to media by Rab.
