2 cases filed over attack on AL office in Dhanmondi
Two separate cases have been filed in connection with the alleged attack on Awami League’s party office in Dhanmondi of Dhaka on Saturday during student protests in the area demanding safe roads.
Police filed the case against unidentified people with Dhanmondi Police Station today, Abdul Latif, officer-in-charge of the police station, told The Daily Star.
On Saturday, August 4, a group of alleged BCL men attacked some students who were checking papers and licences of vehicles in Jhigatola area of Dhanmondi around 1:30pm, leaving some students injured.
On information, several hundred students, who were staging protest at Science Lab intersection, marched towards Jhigatola. The BCL men then chased the students who retaliated by throwing stones.
More students joined and, together, they chased the ruling party men up to their party chief Sheikh Hasina's political office at Dhanmondi-3. They threw stones at the party office, shattering glass of the building.
