Student’s death in Rangpur: Bus owner, driver sued
The owner, driver and helper of the bus have been sued over death of a student in Rangpur yesterday, what had triggered local outrage and road blocks.
Shahidul Islam, a Sub-Inspector of Rangpur Sadar Police Station, filed the case, our Dinajpur correspondent reports quoting local police sources.
The accused were driver Insan Ali Sanu, 38, helper Badsha Mia, 35, and owner Sharifa Begum, 43 – all hailing from the northern district of Gaibandha.
Yesterday morning, Tanvir Ahmed Zion, 15, a tenth grader of Collectorate School and College, was run over by a bus of Bhai-bon express at Darshana rea.
Though the bus was seized, the driver and its helper managed to flee before agitated school students and locals took to the street and blockaded Rangpur-Kurigram road for hours.
Later, in the evening, both the driver and helper were caught.
