JS body for successful implementation of economic diplomacy
A meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday laid stress on successful implementation of economic diplomacy, reports UNB.
Chaired by committee chairman Dr Mohammad Selim, the meeting expressed its conviction that the total progress of the country can be ensured and its sovereignty protected with successful implementation of the foreign policy.
It also reviewed the progress of the decisions taken in the previous meeting of the committee.
The meeting observed that the image of Bangladesh has been brightened in the international arena with the recognition of Ekushey February as International Mother Language Day and with Bangladesh becoming a member of the UN Security Council.
The meeting laid emphasis on the training of the officials of Bangladesh foreign missions for increasing their skills and ensuring accountability. It also stressed on the coordination among the officials of the ministries of Foreign Affairs, Commerce, Labour and Employment and Works.
Committee members Foreign Minister Abdus Samad Azad, State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Abul Hasan Chowdhury, Nurul Islam Nahid, State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Ashraful Islam, Mariam Begum and M Shamsul Islam attended the meeting.
Foreign Secretary CM Shafi Shami and other officials were also present, said a Parliament Secretariat press release.
