'Pintu's men' set fire to bus at Azimpur

BNP former lawmaker Nasir Uddin Pintu's supporters allegedly set fire to a BRTC bus in the capital's Azimpur area this afternoon protesting his life term imprisonment in the 2009 BDR carnage case.
Pintu along with 160 others were awarded life imprisonment by a special court on November 5 for their role in the carnage during February 25-26 in 2009.
No injury was reported in the fire, said Nurul Muttakin, officer-in-charge of Lalbagh Police Station.
A group of Puntu's supporters set ablaze a BRTC bus stationed on a road in Azimpur area around 12:35pm, said the OC quoting witnesses.
The fire damaged some seats of the bus before fire fighters rushed to the spot and doused the flame, the police official said.
The attackers were chanting slogans demanding the immediate release of Pintu, the OC said.
