BNP rally in Dhaka Sept 1 marking 40th founding anniversary
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today announced that the party will hold a rally in Dhaka on September 1, marking its 40th founding anniversary.
“We want to hold a rally either in front of our Nayapaltan office or at the Suhrawardi Udyan on September 1,” Fakhrul came up with the announcement after a joint meeting on the party’s founding anniversary at its Nayapaltan central office.
During the joint meeting, BNP announced various programmes to observe the day with due respect.
Leaders and activists of the party’s different fronts and associate bodies will place wreaths at the grave of the BNP founder late president Ziaur Rahman at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital on the day.
They will also offer prayers at the grave seeking eternal peace of his departed soul.
The party’s flag will be hoisted at all BNP offices across the country.
BNP will also hold a discussion at the Institute of Engineers’ Bangladesh where senior leaders of the party and pro-BNP intellectuals will address the programme on September 2.
The meeting anonymously demanded immediate and unconditional release of imprisoned BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and withdrawal of all cases lodged against the party’s Senior Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman, who is now in London for treatment purpose.
