Govt plotting to keep BNP out of polls: Fakhrul
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today claimed the government is hatching a conspiracy to keep the party away from the upcoming general election.
“Awami League does not want BNP’s participation,” Fakhrul told reporters after placing wreaths at the grave of the party founder late president Ziaur Rahman in Dhaka.
Referring to Obaidul Quader’s comment, Fakhrul said the government wants to create a volatile situation in the name of 1/11 to foil BNP’s democracy restoration movement.
Fakhrul said his party must participate in the next general election to establish people’s government after ensuring immediate release of imprisoned Khaleda Zia.
“Why BNP would hatch a conspiracy for repetition of the one eleven? Is BNP on the driving seat? BNP does not have any need for hatching such plot,” Fakhrul said.
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader recently blamed BNP for hatching a plot to create one eleven like situation in the country.
Fakhrul said the ruling Awami League came out the sole beneficiary of 1/11 government.
