SAARC IT workshop begins today
The first ever SAARC Information Technology workshop "Information Infrastructure in SAARC Region" begins in the city today to discuss the prospect and challenges of information technology in the region.
Minister for Science and Technology Nooruddin Khan will inaugurate the three-day workshop as chief guest.
Organised by BANSDOC, the event begins at 9:30 am at Sundarban Hotel.
A total of nine participants and three observers from six SAARC countries will participate in the workshop while 12 participants will represent the host Bangladesh.
South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) is a forum of seven South Asian countries - Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan and the Maldives.
Information technology experts from home and abroad will present 17 technical papers on different aspects of Information Technology.
A recommendation is likely to be adopted at end of the workshop on January 27, sources said.
