Sarak Paribahan Sramik Federation, a platform of the transport workers, has called a dawn-to-dusk transport strike in Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions for tomorrow to protest the arrest of Shimul Biswas, special assistant of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia.

The strike will be enforced at 6:00am tomorrow on all the 54 routes of the 16 districts of the two divisions, said Akter Hossain Badal, president of Rangpur division unit of the federation.

The transport workers demanded immediate release of Shimul, the president of the federation's northern region, reports our correspondent in Rangpur.

Law enforcers picked up Shimulalong with Khaleda’s adviser Abdul Awal Mintoo from outside the opposition leader's house in the capital's Gulshan area Friday night, hours later BNP standing committee members Moudud Ahmed, MK Anwar and Rafiqul Islam Miah were arrested in front of Hotel Sonargaon.
