WHO team, Selim discuss various programmes
A delegation of the World Health Organisation (WHO) led by its Bangladesh representative Dr Hardjo Tanejo called on Health and Family Welfare Minister Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim yesterday, reports BSS.
During the meeting they discussed different programmes taken by WHO to develop the health sector of Bangladesh.
The members of the delegation assured the minister of their technical and other cooperation to develop the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University as one of the best medical centres of the country.
They also assured of all modern training facilities to the university to create efficient physicians.
The delegation stressed the need for bringing all children below five under the extended programme of immunization (EPI) by December 2000.
The delegation also appreciated the programmes undertaken by the government to eradicate arsenic problem from the country and assured further cooperation from the organisation.
