BSF kills Bangladeshi cattle trader
A Bangladeshi cattle trader was killed and another injured when Indian Border Security Force (BSF) fired rubber bullets and hurled hand bombs on them inside the Indian territory opposite to Hapania border in Naogaon early today.
The deceased was identified as Zahurul Islam, 32, son of Abdul Latif, while the injured is Bakul Hossain, 30, son of Mafiz Uddin of Nimatola in Porsha upazila of the district, reports our Chapainwabganj correspondent.
BSF troops of Kadarapara camp attacked a group of eight to 10 cattle traders when they were returning home from India through the border, said Lt Col Rafiqul Hasan, commanding officer of Naogaon's BGB battalion 14.
The Indian border guards fired rubber bullets and hurled hand bombs targeting the traders near pillar No. 232, one kilometre inside the Indian territory, leaving the two injured, he said.
The fellows however managed to cross the border along with Zahurul and Bakul, the BGB official told our correspondent.
Injured Zahurul died on his way to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital around 6:00am, the CO said.
