The intensity of rainfall across the country is likely to come down tomorrow.
“Light to moderate rain may continue across the country tomorrow but the overall situation will improve," an official of Bangladesh Meteorological Department said.
According to the met office, the country's highest rainfall in 24 hours till 6:00am today was recorded in Cox's Bazar at 263mm while Dhaka recorded 67mm rain.
Heavy rains have been reported from some areas of Bangladesh due to the monsoon in the last four days, Sanaul Haque, assistant director of the met office, said adding that the situation may ease after Saturday.
All maritime ports of the country have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal no three, he added.
Incessant rainfall triggered by monsoon inundated many parts of Dhaka, causing misery to residents.
The rain turned much of the capital into a swamp, submerging streets, lanes and alleyways. Many shanties went under knee-deep water, forcing residents to seek shelter elsewhere.
Commuters faced problems in reaching their destinations due to the torrential rains.
At least 10 people were killed on Friday in incidents triggered by unrelenting monsoon rain.
