BSMMU forms body to probe development project corruptions
The Syndicate of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) today formed a probe body to investigate irregularities and corruption in the financial transactions of more than Tk 1,000 crore for its different development projects during last six and half years.
The Syndicate, highest body of the university, formed the body headed by Professor Dr Mahmud Hasan at a meeting to find out the facts behind the allegations.
The fact finding body has also been asked to submit their reports at the next syndicate meeting which will be held after two months, Zakaria Shapan, a member of the Syndicate, told The Daily Star.
“Massive financial irregularities took place during the last six and half years. The corrupted officials of the university should be brought to book,” he added.
BSMMU Treasurer Prof Julfikar Rahman Khan told the meeting that works of several development projects of the university are on, but he does not know anything more than that, sources said.
