New Iranian envoy calls on Hasina
Newly appointed Iranian Ambassador to Bangladesh Mohammad Razaii Nouri made a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her office in the city last morning, reports BSS.
Nouri conveyed the greetings of President Khatami to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The envoy recalled historic cultural ties between the two countries. He said being members of the OIC, both the countries could strengthen bilateral trade and cooperation for the benefit of their peoples.
Nouri said Iran was ready to extend all sorts of the cooperation to cement further the ties between the two brotherly countries. He prayed for good health of Prime Minister and continued peace and progress of the people of Bangladesh.
Prime Minister conveyed her best wishes to the Iranian President. She also referred to the traditional ties that existed between Bangladesh and Iran. She said her government would extend all cooperation to the envoy during his tenure in Dhaka.
Foreign Secretary C M Shafi Sami was present.
