President, PM greet Myanmar leader

President Justice Shahabuddin Ahmed and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have greeted General Than Shwe, the Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council of Myanmar, on the occasion of his country's Independence Day, reports UNB.

In his message, President Shahabuddin expressed the confidence that the existing friendly relations between the two neighbouring countries would further be strengthened in the years to come.

He wished him good health and happiness, and continued progress and prosperity of the friendly people of Myanmar.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in her message hoped that the close bonds of friendship, mutual understanding and fruitful cooperation between the two neighbouring countries would acquire greater depth and dimension in the year ahead.
