A road flooded with dirty and smelly sewerage water in the capital's Maya Kanon area, also in front of the residence of a former councillor, late Manju, on Wednesday. This happens every day because of a blockage in the underground sewer. In many parts of the capital, waterlogging is simply caused by broken or blocked pipelines, while the city corporation's timely intervention could improve situations. Photo: Sk Enamul Haq
Construction of Aktaruzzaman Chowdhury Flyover going on at Dampara of Chittagong city Wednesday night. To protect pedestrians and passing vehicles against harms, hazardous works are done at night although the site has been fenced off, unlike in the capital where a worker died Wednesday after being hit by an iron bar that fell off the under-construction Moghbazar flyover. However, in November 2012, a girder collapse at the site of now completed Bahaddarhat Flyover had killed four people in the port city. Photo: Anurup Kanti Das
