DU admission seekers can’t sit for test 2nd time: HC
-HC upholds DU decision barring admission seekers from sitting for test second time
- Rejects writ petition challenging legality of DU decision
The High Court today upheld Dhaka University’s decision that had barred admission seekers from sitting for test for the second time.
The court came up with the verdict after rejecting a writ petition filed challenging the legality of the university’s decision.
While delivering verdict on the petition, the court said around half of the admission seekers, who have already got admitted to the university previous year, sit for the test every year to get their desired subjects.
Therefore, a good number of fresh admission seekers do not get chance, the court observed.
The HC bench of Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Md Ezarul Haque Akondo delivered the verdict after hearing the petition filed by the guardians of 26 admission seekers.
The petitioners said the DU authorities' decision taken on October 15 last year is a violation of the fundamental principle of equal opportunity for education.
Articles 15, 17 and 19 of the constitution have ensured equal education opportunity for all, said the petition.
