Abdul Khaleque, in his 60s, is yet to have a retirement plan. He has to keep pulling rickshaw until his younger daughter passes MBBS. Right now, his major concern is buying all the books she will need for the fifth year. Khaleque has sorted out a way to raise money for this. His rickshaw carries a placard on the back of its foldable shed. Apart from seeking assistance, the placard mentions brilliant results of his daughter, now a fourth-year student of Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College. The old man keeps the rickshaw running -- mostly in Shahbagh and nearby areas -- as he looks ahead to next year when his daughter becomes a doctor. Photo: Anisur Rahman
