Elegant zardosi-karchupi for Eid (video)

The artists at Chittagong Bihari Palli have been passing a busy schedule preparing different types of clothes including three-pieces, saris and panjabis ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr. The item they are famous for is zardosi-karchupi.

They prepare designs upon orders from different markets and boutique houses.
Khalid Zafar Pappu, owner of Pappu Boutiques, said he has already got orders worth over Tk 70,000 and is hopeful of getting more orders.
“All the orders will be delivered by working till 28th or 29th Ramadan,” he added.
Worker Toiyob Hossain said he used to work for four to five hours a day after his school hours.
“As the school is closed for Eid vacation, I work almost all day long,” he also said.
Owner Pappu informed that the wages per cloth varies from Tk 3,000 to Tk 6,000 depending on the design.
