2 Rakhine students drown in Bay, 3 missing
Two college students of Rakhine community drowned and three went missing in the Bay while observing ‘Borsha Boran Utshob’ in Cox’s Bazar this afternoon. Imon Chowdhury, 18, and Aki Mow, 17, were students of City College in the district, said Jamal Hossain, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of police in Cox’s Bazar Model Police Station. The identities of the missing people could not be known immediately, reports our Cox’s Bazar correspondent. A large number of Rakhine community people were having bath in the Bay at Shaibal Point around 4:00pm, on the last day of the three-month programme begging in May, the ASI said. All on a sudden, five of them went under water, he added. Later, drivers rescued the two conducting a search in the sea and sent them to Cox’s Bazar General Hospital where doctors declared them dead. The search operations were going on for the missing people.
