1 drowns, 1 go missing in Cox’s Bazar
A teenager drowned and another man remained missing in the Bay in two separate incidents at Inani and Himchhari beach areas of Cox’s Bazar today.
In Inani, locals recovered the body of Md Rubel, 16, son of Abdul Kashem of Napitkhali village, after he along with three of his friends went missing after going into the sea waters for bathing around 12:00pm, our Cox’s Bazar correspondent reports quoting Sub-Inspector (SI) Premananda Mondol, officer-in-charge of Inani police outpost.
The body of Rubel was recovered around 2:30pm, the police official said.
Locals rescued three others from the sea, the SI added.
In Himchhari, Faruk Ahmed, 35, from Dhaka, went missing in the sea waters around 1:00pm, Abdul Majid, officer-incharge of Ramu police station told the correspondent.
Faruk’s friend – whose identity was not available immediately, was rescued.
A team of divers from the local fire service led by Assistant Superintendent of Ukhia police Jashim Uddin was conducting a search operation at the spot, the OC said.
