Man, child gunned down in Rangamati

Miscreants forcefully entered into a house and gunned down a man and a child in Rangamati Sadar upazila early today.

The dead was Ashutosh Talukdar alias Suprio, 55, an ex-member of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samiti, reports our local correspondent.

However, the child was yet to be identified.

The miscreants forcefully entered Suprio's house in Lemuchchari area around 12:30am and shot him dead in close range. A child who was beside him also died of gunfire, locals said.

On condition of anonymity, a source inside Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS) said the deceased was once an active armed force member of the party but was now inactive.

Abdur Rashid, officer-in-charge of Rangamati Kotwali Police Station, said he was informed about the incident. "Forces have been sent there, but we can't say who are behind the incident."
