BNP-led 18-party opposition will hold protest rallies at all upazila, district and city headquarters across the country Thursday to protest what it termed "government’s oppression" during its 60-hour hartal (shutdown).
In Dhaka, the rally will be held in front of the BNP’s Nayapaltan headquarter, BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir told reporters at a briefing at the BNP central office today.
In protest of killing opposition leaders and activists during the hartal that started from 6:00am of Oct 27, the opposition alliance will hold gayebana janaza Friday in front of the BNP headquarters, added Fakhrul.
Addressing another press briefing the same day, Fakhrul said disclosure of the conversation between Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and opposition leader Khaleda Zia was "devoid of political decency".
“The move to disclose the conversation is politically motivated and confusing even before the commencement of any formal talks,” the BNP leader said after the Saturday’s conversations between the two political archrivals had been published in the media.
Hasina phoned Khaleda Saturday inviting her to Gono Bhaban, the official residence of the PM, for a dialogue on polls-time government.
The formula of polls-time government that the PM proposed is not an all-party but a 14-party government, Fakhrul also alleged.
“We want dialogue. But it is regrettable that the government has been spreading false and confusing information to people in the name of talks,” the BNP spokesperson said.
