The 80th birth anniversary of noted actor, elocutionist and cultural personality Syed Hasan Imam was celebrated on July 27 amidst festivity at the Shawkat Osman auditorium of the Central Public Library in the capital.

Eminent citizens including Professor Emeritus Anisuzzaman, veteran cultural personality Kamal Lohani, noted artist Mustafa Manwar, Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, Awami League leader Syed Ashraful Islam, lawmaker Rashed Khan Menon, thespian Ramendu Majumdar, academician Dr. Abdul Mannan and Barrister Amir Ul Islam attended the programme. Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina sent her greetings.

The event began with a group dance by the artistes of Nataraj followed by a welcome speech by Sammilito Sangskritik Jote president Golam Kuddus.

Several noted personalities from the film, television, theatre, radio and cultural arena came on stage with bouquets to wish Hasan Imam on his birthday.

Later, Hasan Imam along with the present notable personalities launched a souvenir book titled “Neel Chhoa Kingbodonti”.

The event also included solo and chorus songs and recitations.
