AGE OF ADALINE

A Lively, ageless performance

What if your agelessness was the only thing that stood between you and love? What if one day you realised you are not capable of change? Wars, constructions of major landmarks, extinction and replacement of lives and objects, meteors circumnavigating, massive progress in science, all leave you unaffected and untouched. What if forever was something that caught up with you every time you tried to escape from the shackles of time?

Age of Adaline (2015) is an epic romance fantasy film that will leave you grappling for emotions as you smile and wipe tears from your most serious yet sympathetic, weeping yet pleased face. Adaline Bowman (Blake Lively) is a living miracle who has not aged a day since one fateful day when Mother Nature tried one of her experiments on her. Running away from people, disappearing from their lives have been Adaline's purpose in life when all she truly deeply wanted was to be found. Lost amidst the mysteries of the universe, exhausted from her adventures, her magical life takes an even more magical turn when life throws Ellis Jones (Michael Huisman) her way.

This is a movie that will make you want to travel back in time and relive those wonderful little moments again because in those passing moments, consciously, inadvertently all the biggest decisions were made. Mistakes, wise choices, choosing the love of your life are an accumulation of the tiny spurs of the moments. Some of the scenes directed to perfection will leave you in awe as with every second of the movie you are left enthralled, passing only gasps of admiration.

Blake Lively, gorgeous as ever, Harrison Ford, and a brilliant cast add an interesting reverse twist to Hemingway's A Curious Case of Benjamin Button making this a must-watch for all the fantasy-romance fans. And it is not only about love and time travelling; there are fun facts and fashion to learn throughout the movie. Running for almost 2 hours, certain scenes may prove to be a little slow to some but I was absolutely hooked to the screen till the very last second.

Imani Khaled is an animal lover, forerunner of her imaginary anti-frizz campaign and sketches exotic travel plans all day, everyday. Reach her at imanikhaled@gmail.com
