HC issues rule over Manna’s bail

The High Court today issued two separate rules asking the government to explain in three weeks as to why Mahmudur Rahman Manna, currently in jail, should not be granted bail in two cases.

The two cases were filed with Gulshan Police Station on February 24 and March 5 last year on charges of provoking the army and sedition, respectively.

Today, HC bench of Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and Justice Kazi Md Ejarul Haque Akondo came up with the rules following two petitions filed by Mahmudur Rahman Manna seeking bail in the cases.

Manna was arrested on Feb 29 last year.
