BGB for UP polls to avert violence
The Election Commission has deployed paramilitary force Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) for tomorrow’s union parishad elections to avert any violence.
BGB has been deployed in 680 unions to maintain law and order, Mohsin Reza, public relation officer (PRO) of BGB, told The Daily Star today.
The union parishad elections, which will be held for the first time under non-partisan manner, will commence from tomorrow. A total of 752 unions will enter polls in the first phase.
All the unions across the country will enter the union parishad polls that will continue until June.
