Colours of Holi in Dhaka

The colourful festival of Holi in Dhaka, took place across the country as well as at the thousand-year old Dhakeswari Mandir yesterday.
Festive processions were brought out at the Dhaka University, Arts Institute, Jagannath University and other places. Thousands cheered while others played traditional drums and sprayed colours on friends family and bystanders creating a festive community of celebrations on the streets.
The ancient festival that is also popular with non-Hindus celebrates the victory of good over evil and also the enduring love between Lord Krishna and Radha. In addition to its religious meaning, Holi also marks the end of winter and the arrival of spring. Holi is celebrated on the day of the full moon on the month of Falgun.
