Guard strangled to death in Mymensingh
A guard was strangled to death in Phulpur upazila of Mymensingh early today following a rivalry between two member candidates who took part during union parishad elections held three days ago.
The deceased Idris Ali, 50, is a resident of Narikelbari village in Vaitakandi union of the upazila, reports our local correspondent.
Police detained four people including Abdul Majid, who was one of the member candidates during the elections, in connection with the killing incident, said Ali Ahmed Mollah, officer-in-charge of Phulpur Police Station.
According to family members of Idris, Abdul Majid along with his men took the victim with them around 12:00am, police said.
After that, Idris did not return and was found dead on a field in the area an hour later.
Idris was a supporter of Nur Islam, who beat Abdul Majid during the polls. He might be killed over the dispute between the two member candidates, OC Mollah added.
