Activities of Sylhet BCL unit closed over infighting
Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) has suspended all activities of its Sylhet district unit for an indefinite period following Friday’s factional clash in the district.
All activities of the BCL unit will remain suspended until further notice, said in a statement signed by S M Jakir Hossain, central secretary of the BCL.
BCL central committee took the decision citing the unit’s inaction to control clashes and breaching discipline, our local correspondent reports quoting quoting Rayhan Chowdhury, secretary of the just suspended committee.
On Friday, the two groups led by former acting president of BCL Hiron Mahmud Nipu and Rayhan Chowdhury locked into a clash in Tilagarh area in the city and vandalised several shops there, said Shahjalal Munshi, officer-in-charge of Shahporan Police Station.
