Cabinet approves draft accreditation council act
The government today approved in principle the draft rules of Accreditation Council Act-2016 to ensure quality and standard of higher education in Bangladesh.
A cabinet meeting chaired by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina approved the draft act today at the Secretariat.
A chairman recruited by the government will lead the 11-member council. No university can offer certificates of higher education without the approval of the council.
The accreditation of the educational institution will be scrapped if it misinforms or conceals information from the council.
“This is an epoch-making law to ensure the quality and standard higher education,” Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam told reporters.
