Faruk killing: Arrest order for Tangail AL MP, 9 others
A Tangail court today issued arrest warrant against 10 fugitives including Awami League lawmaker Amanur Rahman Khan Rana and his three brothers in a case filed for killing Tangail AL leader and freedom fighter Faruk Ahmed.
Faruk was shot dead near his residence in Tangail town on January 18, 2013.
Judge Aminul Islam of Judicial Magistrate Court passed the order after accepting charge sheet against 14 persons including the fugitives in the case. Police submitted the charge sheet on February 3.
AL lawmaker Amanur is from Tangail-3 constituency. His three brothers are Shahidur Rahman Khan Mukti, former mayor of Tangail municipality; Jahidur Rahman Khan Kakon, former president of Tangail Chamber of Commerce; and Saniyat Khan Bappa, former vice president of Bangladesh Chhatra League.

Other four accused are now in jail.
In 2012, freedom fighter Faruk, the then publicity secretary of Tangail district AL unit, decided to contest for the post of Tangail AL general secretary.
But Amanur and his family were against it as his brother Shahidur was making preparations to run for the same post, according to the charge sheet.
Amanur tried to persuade Faruk to quit the race but failed. The MP and his brothers then ordered their accomplices to kill him.
Three days after the killing, Faruk's wife Nahar Ahmed filed the murder case with Tangail Model Police Station against unidentified criminals.
