Syed Shamsul Haque ill, taken to London
Celebrated poet, dramatist and novelist Syed Shamsul Haque was taken to London for treatment on Friday as he has been suffering from critical lung disease.
The versatile writer of Bangla literature was admitted to Royal Marsden Hospital in London yesterday.
His wife Anwara Syed Haque accompanied him to London where his son, daughter, and son-in-law were already waiting, Tareq Sujat, general secretary of Jatiya Kabita Parishad, told The Daily Star.
The poet, chief advisor of the Parishad, his family and members of the organisation asked people of the country to pray for his quick recovery.
The distinguished writer who has a unique linguistic style and has worked on a wide range of subjects was born on December 27, 1935.
